Empowering someone to live a healthy, safe and independent life in their own familiar surroundings is also good for the community.

Council on Aging of West Florida is a local, independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that has served seniors and their families since 1972. Council on Aging of West Florida helps seniors in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties live healthy, safe and independent lives in their own familiar surroundings by providing community based, in-home programs and services such as Meals on Wheels and Alzheimer's respite care, which is provided by our Adult Day Health Care Center. Other programs and services include case management, the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs, caregiver support and training, and the operation of numerous senior dining sites throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.

Pensacola's Grandma Betty (or Grandpa Bob) Contest - Open NOW!

Council on Aging of West Florida is looking for Pensacola’s own Grandma Betty (or Grandpa Bob). Instagram’s favorite grandma, Grandma Betty, is setting the stage for grandmas all over the world. She is an 80-year-old lung cancer patient who is documenting her daily life with the help of her grandson. From dancing to Pharrell’s “Happy” song to expressing her gratitude to her fans, she is getting all sorts of buzz. Council on Aging of West Florida is on the mission to find Pensacola’s very own Grandma Betty. This grandma or grandpa lives life to the fullest and beats the odds, who loves to dance or play sports and is truly making a difference in the lives around them! Submit your nomination story for your grandma or grandpa along with any video or picture to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/coawfla. Tell us why they should be named “Pensacola’s Grandma/Grandpa.” The winner will be featured in the summer edition of our Coming of Age Magazine. The contest ends Friday, April 18.
